The City of Hollywood has a long history of providing exceptional service to all who live, work and play in the City. As we look to the future and our 100th anniversary in 2026, the City employees are proud to share plans they have put in place to continue to achieve quantum leaps in improvement. On an annual basis and led by the City's Strategic Planning Steering Committee, plans are put in place to enhance the quality of life for residents, business owners and visitors in our City. We are proud of our diverse workforce and its talents, abilities and commitment to fiscal responsibility, exceptional customer service and sustainable practices in the face of constantly changing economic conditions.

Our Strategic Plan was originally established in 2003 with a challenge to every employee to share their knowledge, ideas and imagination in the development of a blueprint for City operations. Since the beginning, the Plan has been fully developed and implemented by employees with the understanding that they have the most knowledge about what needs to be completed to provide City services in the most effective and efficient manner. Employees established core values, and a mission statement along with plans to make them part of daily work. On an annual basis, employees develop goals in key priority areas they believe are critical to the City's success. Through the years, the Plan has successfully adapted to the changing environment. In 2010, a vision statement was developed through employee and community input: To be a welcoming, vibrant, sustainable destination City.

Over the years, the focus areas have ranged from ten down to the current five areas in place for the 2011-12 plan year. These are unique and changing times calling for changing strategies.

Preserve Life and Property - Use innovative strategies to save lives, protect property and enhance the overall safety of our residents, visitors and businesses.

Strong Communities - Develop stronger communities through the promotion of healthy lifestyles, recreational activities, aesthetically beautiful communities, enhanced resident involvement and educational programs to provide a positive, nourishing environment for all in our diverse population.

Safeguard the Environment - Provide initiatives to protect, preserve and enhance our natural resources and improve the environmental quality of the City of Hollywood.

Economic Development - Deliver programs and services that locally, nationally, and internationally position the City as a premier destination with a thriving, sustainable business community providing economic opportunities.

Exceptional Governance - Demonstrate a constant commitment to transparent, ethical and fiscally responsible government through exceptional customer service, innovation and a positive work environment.
