Welcome to the Great Neighborhoods Challenge information and resources page.
The challenge is a collaborative effort between the City, residents, business
owners and organizations to make all Hollywood neighborhoods better.
We sincerely hope you will join the effort to improve the City’s neighborhoods.
ON November 3rd, the City and the Hollywood Council of Civic Associations hosted an organizational
"Kick-Off" meeting at the Fred Lippman Center. The meeting was a tremendous success with approximately
150 people attending to learn more about the Great Neighborhoods Challenge
(view the presentation).
Participants also began organizing into Neighborhood Action Committees
or NACs to implement the program. There are now NACs working in every part of our community and all
are invited to join the committee in their area.
With limited resources and much to accomplish, the City has launched this 120 day city-wide
property improvement contest to inspire property owners to take a fresh look at their home
or business and determine if they need to make improvements.
Perhaps your home needs a fresh
coat of paint, maybe your landscaping has become overgrown, or you have a fence that’s rusty or
falling down. Maybe you just want to add a little pizzazz to give your home even more curb appeal.
Enter the challenge, make the improvements between December 1, 2011 and April 1, 2012 and you could have
a chance to win cash prizes. You’ll also be getting to know your neighbors, improving the look of
your neighborhood and boosting property values.
Neighborhoods that get at least 25 people to make visible,
exterior improvements to their properties have a chance to win up to $25,000 to fund a public neighborhood
project for the entire community to enjoy.
